Robot Data Startup XDOF Nears $1.2B Valuation in Series B Talks

Robotics data startup XDOF is in late-stage negotiations to raise a Series B funding round at a valuation of approximately $1.2 billion, according to TechCrunch. Led by 8VC, the potential deal comes less than three months after the company emerged from stealth with a $70 million Series A round backed by firms including Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux, and Spark Capital.

Founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu and Fred Shentu, XDOF builds data pipelines, collection tools, and annotation systems designed for training general-purpose physical robots. TechCrunch reported that rapid growth, with annualized revenue nearing $50 million, drove venture capitalists to approach the startup for a new financing round so soon after its previous raise.

XDOF originates from academic research into low-cost teleoperation systems that enable human operators to remotely control robotic arms to generate training datasets. The company combines remote teleoperation with human collectors wearing body sensors to capture everyday tasks, functioning as a specialized data supply chain for robotics companies and frontier artificial intelligence labs.
