Pump.fun Adds Tokenized Stocks

Pump.fun has expanded its platform capabilities to allow creators to launch new tokens priced in alternative quote assets rather than standard denominations like SOL and USDC. According to a report by The Defiant, the update introduces a feature called Custom Pairs, opening up quote assets that include tokenized versions of major equities such as Nvidia and Tesla, alongside the S&P 500, precious metals, and wrapped cryptocurrencies.

This development brings a trading structure to the Solana network that has previously driven notable activity on other platforms, such as Robinhood Chain. Under the new rollout, bonding curve and PumpSwap protocol fees for Custom Pairs remain consistent with standard token launches. However, the platform allocates fifty percent of the revenue generated from these new pairs directly to its programmatic PUMP buyback-and-burn contract.

As part of the integration, the Solana asset-listing platform Sunrise utilized Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers framework to introduce twenty US stocks issued by Backpack Securities. These underlying tokens are backed one-to-one by real shares held by Backpack Securities, enabling verifiable redemption mechanics for the platform users. Among the equities named by pump.fun in the initial deployment are companies such as Boeing and Alibaba.

Pump.fun previously committed to dedicating half of its revenue to buybacks for a designated operational period, a mechanism that has previously resulted in substantial token burns relative to circulating supply. The introduction of Custom Pairs expands the protocol’s supported asset architecture as builders continue experimenting with alternative collateral types and cross-chain asset bridges within decentralized finance ecosystems.
