BitMine Adds 17K ETH as Ethereum Eyes Q4 Breakout

BitMine has expanded its digital asset treasury by adding 17,000 Ethereum to its holdings, according to a report by AMBCrypto. The corporate accumulation coincides with a period where Ethereum is attempting to break past the 0.03 resistance level against Bitcoin, a threshold it has struggled to reclaim since late 2021.

Data cited by AMBCrypto indicates that Ethereum is tracking toward a third quarter return exceeding 70 percent, outpacing Bitcoin’s roughly 43 percent quarterly return by a factor of 1.5. Despite this quarterly strength, institutional fund flows have continued to favor Bitcoin, with Bitcoin exchange traded funds pulling in more than 6 billion dollars in net inflows through the third quarter compared to approximately 3 billion dollars for Ethereum products.

Corporate treasury activity remains active across both assets. While BitMine builds its Ethereum position, other corporate entities continue stacking Bitcoin, with Strive surpassing 27,400 BTC after a 94.5 million dollar purchase. Market indicators suggest capital is beginning to rotate, as the Altcoin Season Index has moved above its mid August high of 61 and Bitcoin dominance has decreased by nearly 1.7 percent over the month.

If current momentum holds and the ETH to BTC ratio successfully breaches the 0.03 resistance, Ethereum could defy historical fourth quarter trends to outperform Bitcoin for the first time since 2021. The converging factors of institutional accumulation, declining Bitcoin dominance, and improving altcoin breadth are setting up a critical technical test for the market as October begins.
