Polygon Prepares Permissionless Burn of 100 Million POL
Polygon is preparing a permissionless burn of 100 million POL tokens according to recent reports by The Defiant. The underlying smart contracts are currently deployed on the testnet and are awaiting final signatures from the Security Council before moving forward.
Following the initial token burn, subsequent base-fee burns are designed to become community-callable on a quarterly basis. Sandeep Nailwal outlined the upcoming infrastructure changes, which transition token management processes toward decentralized community execution.
The initiative highlights ongoing tokenomics adjustments within the Polygon ecosystem for builders and developers interacting with the network infrastructure. As the contracts progress through the final testing and signature phases, network participants await the official activation of the permissionless quarterly burn mechanism.
